So You Want to Know Something About Me? Okay!
Welcome to my blog. This isn’t my first rodeo in the blog world. I have others and have learned a lot in the process. If you want to know more about me and why I started PrivateLabelPreneur.com, keep going.
Because it’s a rather long story, I’ll give you two choices: the condensed version or the whole enchilada…take your pick!
The Short Story
I started PrivateLabelPreneur.com as a way for you to learn right along with me as I work to build a business that lets me do this→
The goal: Earn enough to live and give while having the freedom to go where I want, when I want.
I began selling on Amazon using their FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) service in May of 2014. I started with “retail arbitrage.” Yuck, that’s not for me! You can read why here.
But by doing so I quickly saw the value of having your own products and in October of 2014 put my first product on Amazon.
I’ve been at it ever since and while I’m not able to call it “making a living” yet, I see there is a lot of opportunity and a strong likelihood that you can make a very good living as a private labeler.
So that’s it, the short story. I’d love for you to take the journey with me. You can watch from the sidelines or commit to being an action-taker and build your own business. Either way it will be fun to be “on the road” together!
Now, for those of you who need or want more…
The Whole Enchilada
I spent the majority of my adult life working in “Corporate America.” I had some really great jobs and worked with some amazing people. But there was always this underlying urge to work for myself.
In my early 20s my then husband and I tried one of those businesses where you take food into office buildings and try to sell sandwiches, cookies, etc. That failed miserably (good thing it only cost us some groceries and a couple of baskets!).
I tried the popular Amway business models. They weren’t for me either.
It wasn’t until I read a magazine article in 2008 that the wheels started turning on what would become my new path. The article was highlighting strategies people were using to generate income. One way was through blogging. “What the heck is blogging?” I thought to myself. The article mentioned a book by Darren Rowse (the godfather of blogging for income) – that book is Problogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income. *
I immediately bought the book and devoured every page. It took time for me to act on what I read, but that’s what lead to the birth of Escaping Dodge in March of 2013.
Escaping Dodge was my first blog and it focuses on a subject that I hold dear…how to have a good relationship with your money. I was HORRID with money in my early adulthood (you can learn more about that here).
How I emerged from those bad habits was what I wanted to share. Escaping Dodge is where that happens.
My first venture into the physical product world was through Escaping Dodge. I wanted to create a cash-envelope system branded for the blog.
So I went to work getting the product made and posted it on Escaping Dodge.
I waited. No sales. I thought it was a failure…
It wasn’t until early in 2014 that I started to hear about “retail arbitrage” and selling on Amazon using their FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) service that things started to gel.
Besides trying retail arbitrage, I also listed my Escaping Dodge products. They sold. No returns. Jackpot!
Don’t get too excited…they sold for a small loss, but that was more than worth the price for the knowledge I gained.
Since then I have launched a brand, My Beer Cozy, following my strategy for selling on Amazon to test a market.
While not selling enough to support me, the My Beer Cozy products are selling consistently. Because of that success, I’ve launched a second brand.
It’s this journey I hope to share with you. Through this blog, PrivateLabelPreneur.com, I’ll open the kimono and tell you exactly what I’m doing and how it’s working. I’d love for you to follow along on my journey or, even better, to launch a product of your own. Let’s do this together!
For those of you who have made it this far, here are some “fun facts” about me…
Get it? Recline? That’s okay, most people don’t get it. Ree Klein is my real name. It’s not short for anything. My parents had an agreement. Girls? Dad got to name us. Boys? Mom would name us. You might think it cruel that my father would name me Ree Klein, but honestly, I love it and it has served me well over my entire life.
2. I’m deathly afraid of spiders.
Spiders? Not so much!
3. I’m a rockhound. Yep. I’m one of those crazy people you find wandering around picking up rocks. I don’t want just any rock though…agates are my favorites and the orange ones especially! When you find one, you feel like you struck gold. Too bad they aren’t worth a nickel!
